Junior Eurovision 2026, A mess

Im sorry but WHAT ON EARTH was Junior Eurovision 2026 because I genuinely couldn't tell if we were watching the live show or a dress rehearsal that somebody accidentally streamed to millions of people around the world…

Honourable Mention: Lets first of all congratulate ARMENIA!!! for winning this year's Junior Eurovision with Naré and BOO!, finally stopping France from taking the trophy once again. Even though we had some good songs this year, we definitely cannot forget about the technical problems, the questionable production choices and the overuse of AI and everything else that made this edition feel like sombr (a mess)…

Lets start by addressing ALL the technical issues we got this year because what actually was going on?..

First of all, let's talk about the technical issues because that's all the show was about.. Between the microphone problems, the screens, the stage floor and the awkward delays, it felt like something was wrong every 5 minutes since the show began. I understand that live television is very unpredictable but surely you can't have that many technical issues in the first 10 minutes of the show…

The microphone problems were funny but ridiculous

The microphone problems were funny but ridiculous

The audio was cutting out during performances all the time and the sound levels seemed inconsistent. Imagine rehearsing for weeks and getting on that ai generated stage and having the audio suddenly become another thing that made your performance look worst then it already was… The contestants did their part but the production ruined the show badly..

The FLOOR too 😭

The FLOOR too 😭

The broken LED floor was the most noticeable problem. There was one black square in the middle being visible in every shot and a visible line that everyone kept on spotting since the 1st performance. Even though the participants were attempting to cover it up, it was still super visible and distracting when the lighting and the visuals were meant to be part of the performance..

And then we had the 6 minute delay before Cyprus, camera issues, inconsistent audio and screens that were bought off temu for the low price of £50 that broke since the first performance. At some point everyone has had to wonder how so many problems managed to make it through the 1st rehearsal, 2nd rehearsal and the jury show. Obviously live television is not easy but surely the whole point of having 2 full rehearsals, a technical rehearsal, a jury show and a rehearsal the same day before the show is to identify these things before the actual show?

Final verdict, was it that bad?

Not everything was bad. The performances were amazing, Armenia won, the artists carried the junior eurovision very well despite the problems. But honestly, the technical side of the whos became such a distraction that it ruined the song contest this year.

Hopefully next year in Armenia (lets pray) will have a little amount of technical problems on the live show.
